I got my haircut today...very overdue...my last cut was the day before my birthday! I went to the Aveda Institute, basically just got a trim. I think my favorite part is having someone blow dry my hair. It's too hot to blow dry in the summer - plus I could never do as good of a job anyway. It's in a fun flip for today. Talking to Ezer last night about my haircut I was surprised by how strongly he preferred I keep it long - "long enough for a ponytail." I used to have some disdain for girlfriends who wouldn't cut their hair because of their boyfriends. And now here I am...I guess as long as it's a request and not a demand, as long as I can still make a radical change if I so desire and can trust that my husband will still find me beautiful.
Speaking of scissors, I co-hosted a scrapbooking party Wednesday. It was a lot of fun. We hope to all get together again sometime next month for a group "crop." It's not a cheap hobby though - and I hope no one felt like they had to buy anything. It's interesting how people's personalities come out in scrapbooking - both in the process and the end result. One friend had a hard time making decisions and kept trying to fit as much as possible on the page. I asked Ezer if he had any scrapbooking observations about me. He said I like to look at the big picture - how one page looks in the context of the facing one.
Lynn and I saw a free performance by the Trisha Brown Dance Company last night in Central Park. We thought there would be open space so we packed a picnic...which we enjoyed on white folding chairs. It was all still very yummy and fun. One thing that always amazes me is the strength and precision of the dancers. Wow.
In other news I've been putting together my dissertation committee and was just asked by my advisor to help write the entry on rejection sensitivity for the Encyclopedia of Social Psychology. Nine more months! I've been looking into the possibility of working for a social research organization post-graduation. The one catch is that most groups have their offices in the D.C. area. We'll see what God has in store...
