falling

Today was my second day of class. Overall, I think we're off to a good start. I have 18 students and many of them volunteer to speak. I know probably 80% of the names (the advantage of having one section and not three!). I've changed quite a few things from my college teaching days and thought I'd adapted the syllabus pretty well for high school but today I was still asked by my students if they had homework. They have a quiz every chapter and a two-page response paper due every chapter which ends up being every other week. Isn't that enough? :)

I'm really liking being back. It's nice to see the other faculty and staff, even if I just knew them by face or chatted in the cafeteria. I'm surprised by how many people remember me and know my name; I need to whip out my yearbook and make sure I know theirs! It's too bad I'm no having lunch at school anymore--both for the free food and also for the company. I've been switched out of a desk in the prep room (next to the test tubes and the Mexican jumping beans) and in with a bio teacher and a physics teacher whom I'm sure to get to know better. The classroom I'm in was just renovated over the summer (seemed more like the week before school). There's a new smartboard in there that I have no idea how to use, so I've signed up for a training session. Today I was happy to see a chalkboard in there at least.

Besides getting ready for school (E is teaching two evening intro to psych classes so we're working many evenings), we've been enjoying the end of summer.

Sunday afternoon was a gorgeous day; we spent the afternoon in the park.

Like mother like daughter?

I love my husband.:)

Look, I do take pictures of people other than S. :)

With Soohee, another park day with lovely trees and flowers.

Angela's bday dinner. The gal in the middle is S's babysitter, Leslie.
