A not so happy yours truly:

Momma bringing me home from the hospital:
The month of May is going by quickly...it's hard to believe next week is my last week of teaching. I'm still trying to come up with a good wrap-up activity for the second-to-last session. The last day will be a party with psych bingo. :) I have a ton of grading to do this weekend. Maybe I should have listened to my students and not assigned those five-page papers!
This week we tried a restaurant called Chestnut in Brooklyn. I figure now is the time to try those out of the way places. The neighborhood (Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill/Carroll Gardens...one of those) was nice, E said he could live there. I said I couldn't live on the F line...feels too remote. The food was pretty good but the room was a bit blah and way too noisy.
Wednesday we had a the thank you/ welcome Mercy Team dinner and meeting. Three people are leaving so it's just going to me, E, and one new member, Paul (along with Scott, our associate pastor). One interesting potential partnership we talked about was providing finances for housing for a (currently homeless) apprentice at a nearby church. This church currently has a regular homeless outreach and has employed full-time one guy but would like to help mentor/train others. He would assist the building caretaker and learn skills so he could hopefully get a permanent job as a super or something like that. We would help with the housing piece--coming out of the EPC benevolence fund (long-term community investment).
Last night I had dinner with my sister, saw the first half of Twelfth Night (the directing debut of one of my students), and then celebrated a friend's birthday with drinks at a lounge...haven't visited that scene in a long time. Today is grading and then a bday/Mother's Day BBQ. E's doing his last loooong run pre-marathon right now. I'd like to take a walk later...I've decided I need to do a lot more walking...gaining weight a bit faster than I would like.
