glad grads

It was strange to by on campus on graduation this week, seeing all the students in their gowns and think, "Exactly one year ago, that was me...."

Graduation is coming soon for my students, too, next Friday. My wrap-up/good-bye classes partly went as planned. I missed the boat with my Section 2--I thought we had one more class this morning, but it turned out that period 3 was canceled because of All School Chapel. The students on Monday seemed quite itchy to get out...I felt bad that they only got boring review and not fun psych bingo with snacks and drinks. I also didn't get to take a class photo or hand out my psychology summer reading list.

Fortunately, yesterday and today went much better. I truly enjoyed my year of teaching and I think that overall the students enjoyed it, too.

Here are the two classes I did get pics of...still learning how to use my camera though, they're a little blurry:

Yep, I got my new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8K this week! I'm enjoying my new toy though I can understand how having so many options can be a bit overwhelming! I may need to learn how to shrink my photos before posting...can definitely tell it takes longer.

I gave my students feedback forms to fill out about the class...they confirmed what I already thought...that I need to be a bit more assertive in class, particularly when it comes to chatty students, and that my curve on tests was a bit easy (of course, certain students didn't complain about this). If I taught psych again I would definitely incorporate more non-textbook material and make more time for experiential activities. But hey, it was my first year and I was making it up as I went along so I give myself some grace.
