bday surprises and cookies

Many thanks to my husband and friends for helping make my birthday fabulous!

On Friday (March 2--my actual bday) E borrowed a car and we were off. And just "happened" to pick up my old roommate and my sister on random street corners along the way. We ended up at a new favorite restaurant of ours called The Good Fork in Red Hook, Brooklyn:

After that, they both had to urgently disappear, we picked up a cake and were off to...New Jersey! Even after he told me so I could help navigate we somehow ended up at Newark airport (not our goal!). But we made it to the 'burbs and had a chance to have dessert with our friends there:

I had told E I wanted to do something with people this year. I like how he planned for us to hang out with different small groups of people.

And since I didn't know what was going on, a week before my bday I decided to coordinate my own group activity (thoroughly convinced E was just planning on our having dinner, just the two of us). So I hosted an all-day Cookie Fest open house where people came to bake, decorate, and eat cookies. It was a very good day. We ate lots of good cookies. I also got so many wonderful bouquets (five total for my birthday!). I love flowers.
