We had lots of visitors the first two weeks of school. Auntie Wendy arrived the afternoon Simone started kindergarten and enjoyed greeting her when she got off the school bus.
Bye, everyone!
Simone's birthday was during Grandma and Grandpa's visit. At school Grandma got to read a story to the class in honor of Simone's birthday:
From the school's August birthday board:
If you look carefully you can see the kids' schedule for that day:
Simone's new seat. They had snacks during story time. Btw, they're required to bring a snack every day. Yikes, we decided to pay for school lunch so we wouldn't have to think about these things!
So far Simone really likes school. She repeats the Spanish words/songs (too bad it's not Mandarin!), gets excited that she can spell can (and as Grandma coached her, words that rhyme with it), likes gym class, has new friends, sneaks chocolate milk at school on occasion, and is a pro at the bus. We're glad. She does get extra tired/cranky from her long days. And sometimes it's sad that she's not here to enjoy the days with us - like when we went with Grandma and Grandpa to the botanical garden. But she's off to a great start.
