more march

More playgrounds...

Noemi is really growing in her physical abilities. Her theme of this month has been learning how to jump in place. She can climb onto the dining table bench. She is more risk-taking at the playground...here on the wobbly bridge.

Bigger sister shows her the ropes:

Peek-a-boo...there are a lot of photos of Noemi with her bottle. After her visit to the dentist and a warning about tooth decay, we're making a renewed effort to start weaning her off it. Since we made her give up the pacifier it's become her substitute.

The box is still with us. Here it's a puppet show theater for S and her play date Matisse.

Just call me Degas...Grandma sent the girls matching tutus...so of course they had to match!

Here they are showing off all the stickers they got from the dentist - they were both superstars.

Notes from March:

Culture week: Last week I got to hear the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra downtown and watch a Tennessee Williams play at the Goodman Theatre, also downtown. The first was due to a woman from my BSF group not being able to use her season tickets. I went with an OP friend, Christen. It's nice to be able to take the "L" right into downtown. The second was a result of Ezer and I inviting our pastor and her husband to dinner at our place...and them countering with inviting us to dinner and a play (their season tix) the next night. Fortunately, our regular babysitter was able to come on such short notice. I enjoyed how intimate both venues were. It's hard to beat the view from box seats (orchestra). The play was dark, very dark, but thought provoking. Ezer and I both enjoyed getting to know Pastor Laura and her husband Terry better.

Hobby weekend: Last weekend, Ezer was kind enough to watch the girls for a whole 48 hours...so I was able to go on a quilting retreat with the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild. It felt good to work on a few unfinished and new projects. I'm motivated to keep sewing! It was nice to just have some time to myself and get to know some fellow guild members a bit better.

Spring break: This was S's spring break. Monday we just stayed around town. Tuesday was dentist day. Wednesday was the Brookfield Zoo with a woman and her two kids from BSF, we've been trying to get together for a while now. Thursday was the Kohl's Children Museum. Friday was Kid City, a play room, with our friends Joi and Eva. Going to kid activities during spring break is a bit nuts. We left the zoo at lunchtime and there were huge lines of people waiting to enter and park. At Kohl's we had to park in an alternate lot because the regular (large) parking lot was full and had to wait a few minutes to get in. S's allergies have been acting up so we tried to stay indoors as much as possible. And we've been trying to not spend money...and mostly succeeded! Thankful for both season tickets (culture week) and zoo (friend)/museum (us) memberships.

Church: In continuing efforts to get more plugged in at LaSalle...I went to my first moms group meeting. I had the youngest children by far...the next youngest was ten I believe. It was good to meet some other women and to hear about some of the joys and challenges that lie ahead as a parent. We noted our interest in joining a small group and were put in touch with a new group forming. Unfortunately, we have a conflict with their first meeting, but will try to stop by.

Work: I'm feeling frustrated with the dearth of decent part-time options and still not sold on going back to work full time.

Community: Not sure if I'm getting to know more people though I've gone to a couple things sponsored by an Oak Park Moms meetup, etc. but I do feel like I'm getting to know certain people more in depth which is nice.

Okay, I think that's it for now! Ezer's in DC until tomorrow...then it's two weeks and the girls and I are off to California for two weeks!
