Take 2

Less than ten days ago, but California is already becoming a distant memory. We luckily missed the hottest week of New York's summer (another reason to love Cali).

Some highlights from the second week in California...

Belatedly celebrating my Mom's birthday:

My beautiful Mom and beautiful sister. They went to a wedding that day and I took care of Great-grandma. Happy birthday (today!) to my other beautiful sister, Joy!

What, you want to separate me from my chocolate Sprinkles cupcake? Or maybe, gasp, share?

Earlier that day there was a much less playful shirt-offing in the Gap that included lying on the floor, running for the door, and kicking and screaming:

This is really bad, but when my mom did this I couldn't help but make a crack about her looking like one of Michael Jackson's kids staying hidden in public:

Fashion Island, Newport Beach: Simone's first official carousel ride. She tried it before but this is the first time she enjoyed it.

Crystal Cove: Notice that Mom is wearing a hat even though it's very grey (okay, it was still a bit "bright"; I have to admit California sun seems stronger than NYC sun).

Na May (Na - we've started using the Thai word for aunt) indulging Simone's new love for the waves:

Everyone - Great-grandma is shrinking!

I'm very blessed that we are able to visit California so often. It's getting a bit more expensive with 3 paying fare now for our Christmas visit but of course, it's worth it. It's also one of the perks of working a teacher's calendar. I told Ezer this morning that this will probably be my last year teaching at my school. I would stay if we wanted Simone to go there but I was talking to my friend who used to teach there and she didn't recommend it for Simone for Kindergarten. I think I'm ready for something else, too. I still have nine months to go (school starts September 14) so I shouldn't get ahead of myself too much. :)

Your mom looks like so much fun! I wish I could know her better. I would have fun talking about BSF with her. ;)
