Solo w/ Simone

Simone and I are in California. E is in NYC. We flew out Friday to begin our two weeks here. E will be joining us this coming Friday for a week. I had asked for lots of prayer for my solo flight out with S. The prayers were greatly answered. At the last minute of boarding someone was going to sit in the middle seat in my row (we had the aisle). I noticed the middle seat behind us was empty and asked if he wouldn't mind switching to back there. On one of my trips to the bathroom with S I noticed that we had the only empty seat in coach next to us! The woman in my row slept almost the entire time. There was a family with two middle school boys sitting one row back kitty corner from us who loved engaging S, making her wave, smile, etc. I kept her in the Bjorn a lot of the time and she took a nice 1hour plus nap. It was such a smooth flight I couldn't have asked for more. What I should have asked was for prayers for her adjustment to a new place, jet lag, etc. It was a little rough Friday and Saturday but she seems more adjusted now than me. For example, I'm up and she's still sleeping!

An earlier solo trip with Simone took place last week. Our friends were getting married in Queens and E and I were one of the couples helping to serve communion (to all the attendees). So we were supposed to go early but there was no way S and I were going to be ready so I sent E ahead. Our new favorite way to get out to the outer boroughs is the LIRR (Long Island Railroad). This church was only a few blocks away from a stop. Fortunately, we didn't have to bring the car seat because from the church to reception and back home we were getting a ride with E's sister who has a very nice new Honda Odyssey minivan and has two kids of her own (left with Grandma) so they even had a car seat we could use. S was a bit squirmy during the ceremony and did her best at the reception. Ah, this is when we miss having available relatives to watch her. There aren't very many people you can ask to watch your kid for so long.

ps Like my new summer dress? Only I would get excited that I could wear a dress and still be able to breastfeed.
