It was very nice to celebrate our 5th anniversary as a couple...can't say we missed our darling daughter too much though I did lose the bet about who would mention her first. I told our server at the restaurant that it was our first overnight w/o her.

We stayed at a B&B housed at Shinn Winery, owned by a couple who formerly had a few successful restaurants in Manhattan. We visted several vineyards and tasting rooms, had a fabulous meal at North Fork Table & Inn, and thoroughly enjoyed our two-day road trip.

We were quite fond of our zipcar for the trip, a Scion XB. Upon returning home we learned that the latest version is rounder, heavier, and gets not as good gas mileage.

I was happy to come across quite a bit of lavender. It reminds me of our honeymoon in France. Along with a few potted herbs, we bought a potted lavender. Here's hoping it blooms!

The owner of Bedell is the Co-Chairman and Co-CEO at New Line Cinema, an art collector, and someone with a very modern aesthetic...enjoyed the look of the tasting room. This was the home of E's favorite wine, Musee.

E explaining the finer points of removing vine leaves to allow full sun exposure fo the clusters. The B&B let guests do some work in the vineyards if they wanted.

Something satisfying about a hard hour's work. :) It even rained on us. We didn't quite make it through a whole row but we came close.
