Argh. Sigh. E and I were going to look at a crib tonight that was listed on Craig's list. I got a call about an hour from the woman saying she'd sold it. We were definitely the first people to contact her and set up an appointment. The guy had a better sob story...wife is expecting twins, they're looking for a crib to match, this company has gone out of business so the likelihood of finding a match if they don't get this crib is slim, etc. The thing that kills me is that E couldn't make the original appointment because of a scheduling mix-up. I could have called the woman and made an earlier appointment, but I didn't want to bother her. Yes, it's her perogative to sell to whomever she wants, but I think in fairness at the very least she could have let me know that she had an earlier appointment and it was first come first serve. That way I could have seen it earlier. I'd already gone to the ATM. We even looked at dressers this weekend to see if there was something that might match. :( It was a good deal on a good brand in a color that would have gone well with our living room. I suppose I can console myself...

I just learned today while reading the newest edition of Baby Bargains at Borders that since the company has gone out of business, even though another crib company has bought the name they are no longer honoring the warranty (which was the best in the business--15 years or 3 kids), will not supply parts, etc.
I was ready to sing the praises of Craig's list before that phone call. Funny thing is, I heeded the unspoken advice to act quickly on another posting I saw today. Someone was giving away 20% off coupons for
Buy Buy Baby (a small chain owned by the same family as Bed Bath and Beyond...with plans to expand nationally). I e-mailed her and even though she said I could come by any time I went right after lunch today and scored...

3 20% off coupons (off one item) that don't expire until after our baby shower so I can buy things still on the list plus some other miscellanoues coupons for Pampers, Children's Place, etc. The bit of baby browsing we did this weekend was a BBB...the half hour E could stand (okay, it might have been a bit longer).
