Some of the leaves had fallen away but we still saw some nice color.
Noemi is finally old enough to be somewhat entertained by books and such in the car. This is a Strawberry Shortcake sticker book she is more interested in scribbling on. Btw, GR is about 3-3.5 hrs away from Oak Park.
We stayed at Homewood Suites. I am now such a fan of suites with doors. The girls and I shared the big king size bed while Ezer slept on the sleeper sofa in hopes of him actually getting some sleep the night before the race. Thanks to our littlest one, I only slept fitfully. Here Simone is working on a Kumon numbers book.
The morning of race day. This is 6:30am which is actually 5:30am Chicago time. :( I tried to pawn Ezer off on other racers driving to the race but we ended up having to wake up, drive him, and then returning to the hotel for breakfast and packing up.
We went out to cheer Ezer on around 10:45am (the race started at 8am). This is an overpass of one of the roads they ran on.
Simone wanted to go down but it was rough terrain (and Noemi was in the stroller) but I thought we had a great view.
This is around mile 23. Maybe Noemi was bored? Not sure where she got the idea to pull down her pants.
Simone was prepared though she probably should have switched hands if she wanted more high-fives from the runners.
Daddy spots us.
Congrats! EK ran his best time in five years. We were very proud of him. And I should stop trash talking so much.
After lunch, Ezer felt okay so we headed to the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. It was a gorgeous fall afternoon.
There were these tremendous hills that the girls had fun running up and rolling down.
Queen of the world - roar!
In the foliage area. We had a quick trip home and a surprisingly stress-free travel weekend. Yay!
