Vermont/ New Hampshire

For Memorial Day Weekend we headed up to New Hampshire and Vermont to see a friend and for Ezer's marathon (number ten!!). We stayed in the Hanover area a couple nights and then a local college dorm the night before the race. It was great to catch up with Melissa, have some family time, and be in the beautiful outdoors.

On the road:

Driving up I couldn't get over the number of densely packed trees--more than the number of pedestrians at Grand Central during rush hour!

We stayed in the room of one of Melissa's stepdaughters. S enjoyed Cuddles' stuffed animals. Note the double bed we ended up all sharing the first night because S had problems sleeping in her pack and play!

At a local farmer's market--lots of yummy goodies:

Meeting some dogs:

On the way from NH to VT we stopped en route at Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory:

I rarely eat B&J's ice cream. The free sample was a reminder how delicious and creamy it is and how a little goes a long way! We had strawberry cheesecake flavor, off-limits for S as it had hoey in it (not good for babies). S tries her first ice cream (well, strawberry kiwi sorbet). She takes a bite:

She's makes a face but keeps going for more!

Instead of the traditional pre-race pasta dinner, we had a yummy Vietnamese dinner. They even had mango and sticky rice. Score!

It was nice that it was warm and bright enough to have dinner outside:

Beautiful Lake Champlain, which E got to see a lot of on the course:

Now E has two ladies to kiss when he greets his fans on the course. This is him running towards us:

I seem to have misplaced my cellphone so we designated a meeting place right by the start...unfortunately it turned out not to be right by the finish!

Visiting Dartmouth, the college I very nearly attended! E was surprised I had never been there...or Wheaton for that matter (before orientation).

Our last stop in Hanover was Nathan's Garden. A local family made public part of their backyard after their son passed away. We even met the mother while we were enjoying some of the flowers there. What a great gift/memorial!
