It's not raining anymore, at least for now. It seemed like it would never stop. I can't imagine what it must have felt like in Noah's Day.
Today:
- In one of my sections students asked if I was still going to be teaching next year. I said no and explained about the one class being taught by the school psychologist...and that I would be home...because I was expecting. One girl, the one who had asked a while ago if I'd prefer a girl or boy, was like, "I've suspected for a while!"
- I was halfway home when I remembered I'd forgotten the library DVDs in my desk drawer. I knew when I put them there that I was risking forgetting but I couldn't fit them and all the class materials in my bag at once. I went back and got them. And then I finally worked up the nerve to ask about donating financially/book-wise to the library. Our church is looking for ways to invest in the community and I thought the local library would be a good way. We could give a lump sum and I could also totally see our church getting into buying books off a list of their requests. I talked to the librarian on duty, who was the young adult librarian. She said she'd love to get more anime and manga but that she would pass on the inquiry to the right person. I thought it was interesting that she said she thought of churches more as taking/having money given to them than giving money away.
- Met up with a friend and watched The Hoax tonight with Richard Gere. I'm not a big Gere fan but the supporting cast sounded great (Marcia Gay Harden, Julie Delpy, Stanley Tucci, Hope Davis, etc.). It was okay. I don't think I'm too into these con movies (Shattered Glass, Catch Me If You Can).
- Need to get up EARLY (for me) tomorrow...7am, it's Art Day at school. Someone from the Museum of Modern Art is giving a one hour talk and then we're splitting up into 69 groups to visit 44 different museums and galleries.
- I'm having a brunch for all the women in our church who have had or will have babies in 2007...so far we're up to nine invitees (including moi).
