when it all works out

I gave a talk yesterday at the "Four College Conference." Each year the social psych students and some faculty from Columbia, NYU, Princeton, & Yale get together at one of the campuses and each school has 4 students present some work. Thanks to God it all worked out. I put in so many hours doing last-minute data analysis, changing slides, practicing, etc. My labmates were very supportive and gave good suggestions.

I was a little bummed out that I was scheduled for the last session. My friend Masumi was going right after me and was also presenting some data for the NYU bar study so she asked if I'd want to go over our presentations during lunch. It turned out to be a very good thing because it was then that I realized that my PowerPoint slides from my Mac didn't all look right on a PC! You know, I assumed that by now the two sides had figured out how to get along. I couldn't fix my slides on the PC but fortunately there was a guy with his PowerBook and I was able to use it for my session (also worked out well that I was the first one in that last group). Yay. I'm done. And it went really well. You know, I get nervous ahead of time and in practice talks but when it comes down to the real thing I'm really relaxed. I was like that on my wedding day, too....
