So our stockings arrived. They are way big. They are huge. We could wear them as knee-high winter boots...what are those big ones called...Uggs?! That's the thing about internet/catalog shopping. The measurements didn't seem gi-normous.

But I don't seem to learn. Yesterday I ordered what I hope will be a cute bag:


I made some yummy pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and pecans. Yesterday I gave several away to the psychology front office and my labmates. Hmm, I need a digital camera so I can show you my yummy creations. :)

Last night I watched the Chicago White Sox win the World Series - I'm happy for Chicago but feel a little bad that Houston got swept.

We found the hole the mice are coming through. The exterminator stuck some bait up there. Apparently, the trick is to use steel wool to plug it (it's just above the baseboard of our kitchen cabinet...seems to lead to the space between the cabinet and the wall).

I've been having some good work days. It's nice to feel like I'm making progress on my dissertation. I've been avoiding working on the intro though - I think it's the hardest part.
