Are you talkin' to me?

Yesterday I was surprised and upset by a comment a colleague of mine made with an accompanying targeted look. It seemed to imply that this person believed their view on homosexuality was the right one and felt like a subtle attack on my faith. Fortunately, we have such a relationship where I felt comfortable bringing it up with the person today. I shared how I felt, they apologized and shared what had been going through their mind (no offense intended). So we're okay.

Thinking about it and talking about it with Ezer last night brought up a lot of things. I realized how rarely I generally feel "persecuted" for my faith. Actually, yesterday there were also a couple other comments making fun on my views of sexual morals. Perhaps I was more sensitive yesterday because I had opened up more than usual about my faith.

More thoughts:
- People might attempt humor when they feel defensive that their lifestyle isn't aligned with Christianity.
- It was more about the relationship than the content or the existence of differences.
- I don't want to be known as a Christian and have my beliefs about homosexuality be the defining feature of how others view Christianity. I do want to be known as a Christian in general though. :)
- I want to be bold enough to pray that God would use me this summer in my work relationships and that I would be willing to step up to the plate in my actions and speech.
